UPDATE: The world record for attendance at any hockey game is now 77,803 set May 7, 2010, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Host Germany defeated the United States, 2-1, in the opening match of the World Championships. The largest crowd (74,554) to ever attend an outdoor hockey game was The Cold War (October 6, 2001). The Big Chill is expected to be the largest crowd to ever attend a hockey game at any level. Demand for the outdoor game between Michigan State and Michigan has already generated sales of more than 100,000 tickets. It is scheduled to be played December 11, 2010 (3:00 PM ET) at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, MI.
