Return to Waverly 1969 website

From time to time, a handful of classmates get together to socialize, go shopping, whatever. If you've had such a Get Together lately, please send us a photo and details (who, what, when, where, etc.).

Sept 2011 - Tom Hoesl doesn't get back to Lansing very often from his home in Montana, so we got together with some of his friends and relatives. Tom wore his high school football jersey, which coincidentally is his age! Among the crowd were five from the Waverly Class of 1969.

Sept 2011 - Dave Pasant brought his ukulele and we had ourselves a hoedown at Cathy Smith's house.

July 2011 - Dinner at the Nut House, then Lansing Lugnuts baseball, then fireworks after the game... woo-hooo!

May 2011 - Windemere View Elementary School closed in June 2011 after 52 years of service! Some former students attended an Open House at the school, then gathered at a local watering hole to raise a toast or two to the school.

August 2010 - Laura (Newport) Rothermel wrote: "We spent the weekend at our cottage on Lake Leelanau. We checked out the Art Festival in Suttons Bay, went to some wineries for wine tasting, took our boat into Leland to see Fishtown, and laughed a lot. Cindy and her husband Al traveled from Florida to complete our group. The girls will be together again in November 2010 when we travel to San Antonio, TX, for our annual sightseeing and shopping trip."

April 2010 - Sharon (Granger) Edgerly-Hanratty writes, "I found this in my email and realized I never sent it to you. Linda Boyd now lives outside of Las Vegas. She came back to Michigan last November to visit family and take a side trip to Lansing to meet Susie (Polihonki) Silkey and me for lunch. (The other gal in this photo is Linda's cousin.) Interesting little tidbit: Susie's niece is married to my son! Susie and I were friends from kindergarten through high school, and now our families are bound together forever through my granddaughter and grandson... her great-niece and great-nephew. Gotta love God's work... the awesome tapestry of lives that He weaves!"

March 2010 - Dave Pasant writes, "I recently took my 13-year-old niece to Kauai, Hawaii, for her birthday. Before an early dinner and a break from the beach, we visited a great gift shop, Sand People, that my wife has loved over the years. As the girls were looking things over, another couple came into the store. The man was wearing a University of Michigan t-shirt. Of course, I had to tease him about his poor choice of garments. We started a conversation about the merits of higher education in Michigan when the proprietor of the store casually mentioned she also was from Michigan. I joked, 'That's why Michigan's economy is so poor... all the Michigan people are in this store!' As the girls made their purchases and we began to leave, the proprietor asked, 'By the way, what's your last name?' I told her, and she said, 'Well, I'm Gail Lee!' It turned out that in all the 30 years I had a place on Kauai, and all the times we had been in that shop, this was the first time we had bumped into each other. She's been on the island for 15+ years, is married to a property manager, and loves it there. We talked about the 2009 reunion and how wonderful WE look compared to everyone else (ha ha... just kidding, no letters please!). She might be able to come this summer to the Lansing Lugnuts game on July 24. A lovely lady (still), and I hope to hook up with her for a longer catch-up session on my next trip to the Garden Isle."

STONER SCHOOL - The Stoner Elementary School Reunion is an annual event. If you're a "Stoner Kid" and want more info, send an email (click here), or call Mary Letts Foess at 989-823-4013.
